I almost have no words to express my levels of fury at images of reversed lead type.

(The latest abomination being the giant Sherlock Holmes posters at Flinders St Station. I get so angry that even Robert Downey Junior’s face can’t distract me.)

doctordarling:

The trailer for Gangs Of New York has lead type in it, and it makes me mad because its all reversed and frontfacing.

The Seven Visible Signs of Ageing

Monoceros and Phoenix

Finally got a chance to edit the photos from the recent show I co-curated as part of Coalesce ARI, The Seven Visible Signs of Ageing. It opened at the end of April and ran until mid-May at Eckersley’s Open Space Gallery in Melbourne. This is my work installed — six etchings all up, in two series of three. Each print is also an edition of three.

This set is titled Monoceros; 1613, Plancius; NQ2; visible at latitudes between +75º & -90º (red, green and blue respectively).

Monoceros (red)

Monoceros (blue)

This set is titled Phoenix; 1603, Keyser & de Houtman, Uranometria; SQ1; visible at latitudes between +32º & -80º (red, green and blue, respectively).

My replicants, phase one.

My replicants, phase one.

My first ever letterpress attempt. Those three lines, written by @neilhimself in one of the Sandman comics, took approximately three episodes of Back to Work to set and print*.
Stick that in your app and …shake it… or whatever it is you do with that letterpress app.

*I got faster as I learned where all the letters were, so I suspect the next one will take half as long.

Yeah, I’m all kinds of nerd. Here’s a hhgttg print from a little while back.

Hey everyone, this is A Mote of Dust’s piece from the print exchange with RMIT last year. Made of win.

The Seven Visible Signs of Ageing

About:

I'm a printmaker. I've recently been awarded my Master of Fine Art in Printmaking.

I used to keep a big folder containing all my research. This is the electronic version. "Once Upon a Spacetime" sounded far less filthy than "Crumpet's Big Box".

For less MFA and more TPB, Anybody want a peanut?.
